Dear Charleston Men’s Chorus Patrons and Fans:

As we enthusiastically begin our 22nd concert season, Charleston Men’s Chorus (CMC) finds additional inspiration from some of the achievements from our 21st season. Our three concerts featured pieces that successfully nudged our members into more advanced music than in the past. Our Memorial Day Concert was dedicated to the memory of Captain Richard G. Cliff, Jr., a Mount Pleasant native who was killed in action in Afghanistan. Richie’s dad, Rich, gave the audience a wonderful tribute to his son and vividly showed all of us the real meaning of Memorial Day.

In May, we learned that one of our past scholarship recipients, William J. Bennett, who is the choral director at Cane Bay High School, was nominated as a quarterfinalist for the Grammy Music Educator Award.

Perhaps our proudest accomplishment was the establishment of the John J. Kerr Memorial Scholarship of the Charleston Men’s Chorus. Named for one of our founders, two-term president, and long-time Master of Ceremonies, it honors John’s commitment and enables CMC to expand our scholarship program to more recipients. With the initial support of several major sponsors and the generosity of many others, nearly half of the ultimate goal of $150,000 has been raised.

Our performances, our support from the local music community, and our mere existence could not happen without financial contributions of our patrons and fans. This generosity from the local and regional community humbles the members of CMC and allows us to continue funding multiple scholarships for the music students of the College of Charleston and Charleston Southern University.

If you have supported us through a contribution or attendance at our concerts over the past two decades, please accept my most sincere thanks. I would ask that you continue your support by matching or even increasing your contribution from previous years. If you have not been a sponsor of CMC in the past, please consider joining our family of loyal contributors. Please help us promote our version of musical excellence and awareness in the Lowcountry and beyond.

We welcome your questions and comments, hope you enjoy our brand new website, and follow us on social media for up-to-date information on CMC. On behalf of all our members, our director, Ricard Bordas, our accompanist, Pam Nelson, and our Board of Directors, I hope to see you at each of our concerts during the 2014-2015 season and thank you in advance for your generous support.

With kindest personal regards, I am

Sincerely yours,
Jack Evans
