Charleston Men’s Chorus was founded in 1990 to fill the need in the Lowcountry arts community for the distinctive harmonies of a male chorus. This non-profit, auditioned ensemble is led by internationally acclaimed countertenor and conductor Ricard Bordas, with distinguished pianist Pamela Nelson serving as the chorus’s accompanist.
Each year, the chorus presents a series of signature performances that reflect its musical range and community spirit. These include a cherished Christmas concert, a solemn and moving Memorial Day tribute, and the Fall concert in collaboration with Charleston Southern University’s Bel Canto. This fall performance will highlight a variety of musical selections, including American folk, theatrical, and operatic works, as well as international pieces such as madrigals, motets, and anthems composed specifically for male voices.
The Charleston Men’s Chorus is proud to support the next generation of musicians by awarding annual scholarships to vocal performance or music education majors at the College of Charleston and Charleston Southern University.
As we enter our 2025 season, themed “Season of Song, Season of Support,” we remain committed to enriching our community through powerful performances and meaningful outreach. We invite you to join us in supporting choral excellence in the Lowcountry.
