As many of CMC’s patrons know, our scholarship programs – both the John J. Kerr Memorial Scholarship and the CMC scholarship – are a cause very near and dear to our hearts. We are pleased to play a role in fine music education that four young men receive at Charleston Southern University and the College of Charleston each year. Wednesday, June 17, 2015 is a day that will go into the history books. A day when worlds collided and hatred tried to steal joy and peace from the community of Charleston. But it did not succeed. Yes, we mourn the loss of the 9 victims of the shooting while continuing to pray for their families but this event is proof that God can make good out of even the most terrible of events. Charleston Men’s Chorus invites male choral singers to our January 2015 auditions. CMC performs three major concerts per year: the Spring Concert in March, the Memorial Day Concert and the Christmas at the Sottile Concert in early December, as well as a handful of special appearances and chamber choir performances throughout the year. Attention all male choral singers! We resume our weekly rehearsals beginning Monday, September 8th to prepare for the annual Christmas at the Sottile concert. Rehearsals are held every Monday at the St. Philip’s Episcopal Church choir room located in downtown Charleston at 142 Church Street, 2nd floor from 5:30 to 7 p.m. New members are welcome!
